Barnwell Academy

Remote Learning

Where a pupil, group of pupils or class need to remain at home we will provide:

  • Home school engagement using the online Marvellous Me app
  • Use a curriculum sequence linked to the school's curriculum expectations
  • Give access to high quality remote education resources
  • Provide a laptop for pupils without remote access
  • Provide printed resources for pupils who are unable to access remote learning

 Home/School Engagement

Barnwell Academy uses the home/school engagement app, 'MarvellousMe', to maintain a link between the class teacher and home. This will be used to support remote learning while pupils self-isolate. All parents can join for free. If you have not yet signed up then a join up code will have been issued through our text message service or through email (Please check your spam folder too!). Contact the school office for further support in setting this on your mobile device.

To sign up to MarvellousMe, download the MarvellousMe Parent App from the App Store or Google Play Store, or join up at www.marvellousme.com.  Enter your join code and tap 'Sign Up'.

Your child's class teacher will provide messages and information home and give rewards for completed work.

Access to Resources

Where parents have contacted school to advise they have insufficient internet access the school can provide printed resources. Where possible the school may be able to support with data access although our capacity to do this is limited.

Where pupils do not have access to suitable hardware for remote learning e.g. laptop or tablet the school can provide a device. Laptops or Chrome books will be allocated per family as a minimum but for each child where possible.

Printed Resources

Where suitable online access is not available or restricted, printed resources will be provided. CGP workbooks and mathematics text books may also be set to match the curriculum expectations. Exercise books will also be provided for pupils to record their work. Where possible children may submit work daily, weekly or otherwise on return to school. This method of remote learning has limited impact on learning and we hope all pupils will access remote learning online.
