A New Primary School for Pupils with Special Educational Needs in Penshaw
An application to establish Spring Academy will be submitted to the Department for Education in April/May 2017. Spring Academy will be a new co-educational primary school for pupils on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) & Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and is being proposed by Barnwell Academy Trust.
If our application is approved, we plan to open with 10 pupils in the first year across Reception Year 1 & Year 2 and 50 pupils in total when at full capacity.
The new school will be part of the Barnwell Academy Trust and will create a secure, caring and stimulating learning environment in which everyone can develop his or her aptitudes and abilities to the full.
You can help make this happen! The plans for Spring Academy will only become a reality with the support of the community. In our application to the Department for Education, we need to demonstrate the level of support for the school, particularly of parents with child(ren) due to start primary school in September 2019 or 2020.
